Hello/Boozhoo, my name is Emily ~
I look forward to meeting you.

I grew up in rural West Virginia and moved to Minnesota for a career in higher education and library leadership over two decades ago. I moved to Bagley in 2020 and knew almost immediately that I was home - not just where I'd landed, but where I wanted to stay. The land and the people felt more familiar to me than anywhere I'd lived in a long time. I chose this place. Showing up and committing to my neighbors is how I live that choice.

For the past five years I've served as Executive Director of the Beltrami County Historical Society, where I've secured state and federal grants, established award-winning programs, and built partnerships across tribal, county, regional, and state lines. I am most proud of the work we've done preserving our collections to industry standards so that our children's children's children can access and learn from the history our ancestors treasured. I think in generations, not election cycles.

I believe:

Building a Better Future:

  • We have foundational obligations to one another and the land.
  • Government should deliver real results people can see.
  • Solutions should come from the people closest to the problem.
  • We should use existing resources more effectively and fairly.
  • Tribal Nations are governments, and honoring treaties strengthens our entire region.
  • a Strong Local Economy
  • Housing People Can Afford
  • Healthcare & Addiction Recovery
  • Supporting Families in the Workforce
  • Protecting the Land & Water

Government should be accountable, effective, and focused on results!
